MY HOUSE IS A CONSTRUCTION
ZONE
©Lydia Adams Davis
CHORUS My house is a construction zone,
No place here to call my own!
My house is a construction zone,
No place here to call my own!
Well I chop down the tree with my teeth,
File off the branches easy to reach,
Push all the pieces into the stream,
Float 'em in a line, if you know what I mean!
CHORUS
Then I scoop up the mud from the bottom of the stream,
Pack it down tight, so the water stays clean.
This makes a place where I can swim,
'Cause the dam is holding the water in.
CHORUS
With the left-over branches, I shape a dome.
A two-story lodge is my new home!
My family sleeps right here with me,
In our habitat we made from the tree!

WATER
©Bob Reid
Water, water everywhere
And not a drop to spare
Water's in the ground
And water's in the air.
Though it may evaporate,
It never goes away.
It snows on top of mountains,
Melts, and flows into the bay.
CHORUS: Animals need water, people need it too.
Keep it clean for me and I'll keep it clean for you
Animals need water, people need it too.
Keep it clean for me and I'll keep it clean for you.
You can take a shower in it,
You can wash your hair.
You can wash your clothes,
You can wash your teddy bear.
Really clean water
Is getting mighty rare,
And if you want to save it,
People have to care.
CHORUS
Water is rain, water is a flood.
Water turns dirt into mud.
Sometimes water's blue,
And sometimes water's green,
Sometimes water's dirty,
And sometimes water's clean.
CHORUS:
Optional 4th Verse:
We can all save water, when we brush our teeth.
We can turn off the tap when we have what we need.
We can help each other help the planet earth
And when we do that we help our own self worth.
CHORUS: Animals need water..... |
THINK ABOUT THE OCEAN
©Lydia Adams Davis
CHORUS: Think about the ocean
Think about the air
Listen to this song of ours
If you really care
We're gonna work together
There's so much we can do
This planet we are living on
Depends on me and you
We live by the Hudson
We see it every day
What we don't see are the PCBs
As they come our way
They work up through the food chain
From the very smallest fish
Birds & seals & children
Get very sick from this
CHORUS: Think about the ocean.....
Acid rain is falling
upon the mountain peaks
The ozone layer's depleted
When refrigeration leaks
The air we breathe is dying
It's happening right here
Let's everyone start trying
To save our atmosphere
CHORUS: Think about the ocean......
Crude oil has been spilling
Up in Alaska's Sound
Not caring was the villain
Let's turn that ship around
Share a little, care a little
Spare some of your time
Help the whales recover
And gain some peace of mind
CHORUS: Think about the ocean.....

THE LUNCH SONG
©Lydia Adams Davis
First you take the baloney
and the macaroni
Then you take the bread
and the lettuce head
Then you take the sauce
and you take the cheese
Then you take the mustard
and the pepper make us sneeze(A-Choo!)
And we all have lunch
we all have lunch
We all have lunch
and a carrot bunch
Yes we all have lunch
we all have lunch
We all have lunch
and a carrot bunch
and a carrot bunch
and a carrot bunch.

Rainbow of Color
©Lydia Adams Davis
Think I see the light
Shining in your eyes
When friends like us depend on each other
We can harmonize
I believe the dream
That came to me one night
All of us in a rainbow of color
Will live to make things right
Chorus:
When they say
No. You can't do it!
We'll say, yes! Yes, we can!
When they say
No. Don't go through it
We'll say, Yes. We have a plan!
We'll celebrate the struggles of those who went before
And all of us in a rainbow of color
Will open up the door.
Chorus
I believe the dream
of Martin Luther King
All of us in a rainbow of color
Will lift our hearts and sing
Chorus
I believe the dream of Martin Luther King
All of us in a rainbow of color}
Will lift our hearts and sing } repeat twice
All of us in a rainbow of color will lift our hearts and sing

THE CAT CAME BACK
Words and Music By H. Miller additional verses by Lydia Adams Davis,
Fred Penner
Old farmer Johnson had troubles of his own
He had a little cat that would not leave his home
He tried, and he tried, to give the cat away
He gave him to a man going far, far away
CHORUS:: But the cat came back the very next day
The cat came back, They thought he was a gonner but the Cat came back,
he just wouldn't stay away
He gave him to a man who was going to the moon
In a shiny new rocket that would get there very soon
The rocket went up in a cloud of smoke
The people left on earth, They began to cough and choke
CHORUS
And just as the rocket got close to the moon
Something was wrong in the engine room
I can't find the map! I can't find it any place
Oh dear, does that mean we will wander off without a trace
CHORUS
He gave him to Lady who was moving to the coast
She had a new coat that she loved the most
But the coat had no collar, and she wanted one of fur
So when she saw our little cat a thought occurred to her
I'll feed him Tender Vittles, and when he's feeling fine
I'll knock him out, and put him on, and
Wear him all the time - but-

JUST ANOTHER LINK IN A CHAIN
©John Sebastian
Well the cave man carried the wood to the fire
And he never gave a thought of sending power through a wire
Raised up his head; he winced at the pain
He said, Lord have mercy I'm a link in a chain.
Chorus:
Just another link in a chain
Just another link in a chain
I'll pass this world on to my daughters and my sons--
Just another link in a chain
Now the whale she sings at the bottom of the sea
But she comes up to breathe just like you and me
That's where she meets the whaler with his deadly aim
Well I wish just once in the time that remains
She could talk right up in a voice so plain
slap her tail on the water like a hurricane
Say don't kill me 'cause I'm a link in a chain
Chorus
Now it's the same in this world as inside you and I
The little cells live, the little cells die
And they pass information on down to the next in line
And the one on the end sings everybody's song
He makes another link and he passes it along
Now we gotta keep this chain together 'til the end of time, singing--
Chorus(repeat)

I HAD AN OLD COAT
©Paul Kaplan
I had an old coat and the coat got torn, What'll I do
(what'll I do)
I had an old coat and the coat got torn, What'll I do
(what'll I do)
I had an old coat and the coat got torn
So I cut it down and a jacket was born
And I sing every day of my life
In a couple of years those threads got thin,...
So I called it a shirt and I tucked it in
And I sing ...
Then the arms wore out in the east and west, ...
So I pulled them off and I had a vest
And I sing ...
But the vest got stained with cherry pie ...
So I cut and sewed till I had a tie.
And I sing ...
But soon that tie was looking lean, ...
But it made a fat patch for my old blue jeans
And I sing ...
And when that patch was next to nothing ...
I rolled it up into a button
And I sing ...
And when that button was almost gone ...
With what was left I made this song
Which I'll sing every day of my life! |
IT REALLY ISN'T GARBAGE TILL
YOU THROW IT AWAY
Words and Music by Dan Einbender
2nd Chorus by Lydia Adams Davis
II Bah-da-ba-dum, dum, recycle please.
Bah-da-ba-dum, dum, recycle please.
There's garbage in the basement, there's garbage in the kitchen
Garbage in the bathroom and the backyard too
Sometimes it seems to me that we are burying the future
This yucky pile of trash gives me the garbage blues
CHORUS: It really isn't garbage till you mix it all together
It really isn't garbage till you throw it away
Just separate the paper, plastic, compost, glass and metal
Then you get to use it all another day.
II Bah-da-ba-dum, dum, recycle please.
Bah-da-ba-dum, dum, recycle please.
Don't put it in a landfill, it gets in the drinking water
It hurts the fish and beaches if you throw it in the sea
Take time now to recycle, the solution to pollution
Don't count on someone else, it's up to you and me.
CHORUS
II Bah-da-ba-dum, dum, recycle please.
Bah-da-ba-dum, dum, recycle please.
You know there are some folks who say we really ought to burn it
It's more efficient, makes electricity
But if you're gonna burn it then you know you're gonna breath it
And what to do with what that's left there are no guarantees.
CHORUS
II Bah-da-ba-dum, dum, recycle please.
Bah-da-ba-dum, dum, recycle please.
Bah-da-ba-dum, dum, recycle please.
And then we get to use it all another day.

TIME'S
RUNNING OUT FOR GARBAGE
©Lydia Adams Davis
CHORUS: Time's running out, time's running out. Time's running out
for garbage.
Time's running out, time's running out. Time's running out for garbage!
It's not very fair
To the animals everywhere
We polluted the water, land, and air
There's too much noise around
We've got to slow things down
Take time to clean and care
CHORUS: Time's running out.....
It's up to me and you
We'll do what we can do
We'll ban styrofoam from our schools
We'll walk to the store and then
We'll car pool when we can
We'll clean the air and save fossil fuels
CHORUS: Time's running out.....
Recycle bottles and cans
That's a very good plan
Young and old can lend a hand
Disposables leave a mess
We can help by using less
Take time to clean up our land
CHORUS: Time's running out..... |
